The game, which is set to release on September 19, 2023, will feature a new storyline that explores the origins of the Mortal Kombat tournament and the fate of the realms. Here's what you need to know about Mortal Kombat 1:

 - A new era begins: Mortal Kombat 1 takes place in a reborn Mortal Kombat universe that has been created by the Fire God Liu Kang, who defeated Shang Tsung and Kronika in the previous game. Liu Kang travels back in time to train his ancestor, the original Kung Lao, and prepare him for the first Mortal Kombat tournament. However, not everyone is happy with Liu Kang's vision of a peaceful future, and old enemies will rise again to challenge him.

 - Reimagined characters: Mortal Kombat 1 will feature a roster of familiar characters from the early Mortal Kombat games, but with a twist. The characters will have different looks, personalities, and abilities that reflect their roles in the new timeline. For example, Shang Tsung is now a young and ambitious sorcerer who seeks to overthrow Shao Kahn, while Kitana is a loyal warrior who serves under her father, King Jerrod.

 - New gameplay systems: Mortal Kombat 1 will introduce a new fighting system that promises to be more fluid, dynamic, and brutal than ever before. The game will also have new game modes, such as Story Mode, Arcade Mode, Online Mode, and more. One of the most intriguing features is the Kameo Fighters system, which allows you to choose a partner from a unique roster of characters who will assist you in battle with special moves and combos.

 - Special editions and preorders: Mortal Kombat 1 will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. The game will have two special editions: the Premium Edition and the Kollector's Edition. The Premium Edition will include early access to the game from September 14, a steelbook case, a digital soundtrack, and four DLC characters. The Kollector's Edition will include everything from the Premium Edition, plus a 12-inch statue of Liu Kang and Kung Lao, an art book, and a replica of Shang Tsung's amulet. Preordering any edition of the game will also grant you access to the beta in August.
